OUT TAKES Dallas - The Annual Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in an annual Film Festival in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex that focuses on films with Gay and Lesbian content or films that appeal to a Gay and Lesbian audience. The festival, begun in 1999, has grown to become one of the leading Lesbian and Gay Film Festivals in the United States, recognized by our audience and filmmakers alike for our quality film schedule and professional execution.

OUT TAKES Dallas is unique in that our festival is the largest of its kind that is completely organized and conducted by a not-for-profit, completely volunteer-run organization.

Our films screened throughout the festival's history have run the gamut of cultural diversity including a number of Hispanic films, African-American films, Native American films and films about an aging gay population. We have consistently been selected for the regional or Texas premiere of many ground-breaking gay and lesbian films.

Our audience includes straight, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, young, old, from Dallas, or from out of state. We have done this by reaching out to the lesbian and gay community through its publications, and our extended community through mainstream publications and other community organizations.

The festival consistently demonstrates a commitment to cultural diversity in all aspects of its operations such as board, programs, audience and outreach. Our Board and Organization is represented by both men and women, and has included Hispanic, African-American, Native American, and Asian-Pacific members.

Our annual festival is made possible in part by our Corporate Sponsors, Individual Sponsors, and our Public and Community Sponsors. These sponsors provide the critical advance funding that allows us to present a top-tier festival.

In addition to our annual festival, we regularly have screenings throughout the year to showcase films of interest to our community. These “One Night Engagement” (ONE) events are held at one of the many art-house theaters in Dallas. We also have “OTD Exposed”, a chance to do something fun and crazy at local bars, clubs and events like the annual Pride Celebrations that relate to film.

Any excess revenue from our yearly activities is funneled back into the lesbian and gay community (through the OUT TAKES Foundation, the parent organization of the Festival, a registered not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization) - specifically to organizations with like-minded goals. During the Festival’s history, we have awarded over $60,000 to our community beneficiaries.
