1. I've never been to the Magnolia, where is it?
Click here for a map of the Magnolia Theatre and its surroundings.
2. Where do I park?
Click here for directions and information on parking at the Magnolia.
3. What's the seating capacity at the Magnolia?
We will be in Auditorium 1 for the entire festival. It seats approximately 190 people. We strongly recommend you buy your tickets early or become a patron to guarantee a seat.
4. Why are only a few screenings encore performances?
We try to balance the anticipated attendance with the cost of showing a film with the length of the festival. Each distributor charges differently for the public screening of a film. We also use our own historical data as much as possible in making the attendance predictions. In the end we need our customers to tell us how well we are doing. Answering festival survey is the best way to do that.
5. Why did you change to 10 consecutive days?
We had great attendance in previous years and we work hard to listen to our customers. Many complained about the two screen format because they couldn't see every film. We plan to continue the use of one screen for 10 days provided continued audience success.
6. Are there special needs facilities at the Magnolia?
Yes, including headphones, an elevator and special seating areas within the auditoriums. Anyone with special needs may be seated as soon as they arrive if they wish.
7. Why must OUT PASS holders pick up a ticket at the Will Call table?
We use this process to be sure we avoid overselling the auditorium capacity and it works very well. As mentioned, our seating is limited, OUT PASS attendees are not tracked in the Theatre computer, we handle this through the ticket distribution from the Will Call table and communicate the numbers to the box office.
8. Why is everyone telling me to wear my OUT PASS?
We use one of five auditoriums at the Magnolia. To distinguish our OUT PASS holders and give them early access to seating we must see the PASS. We provide a lanyard with each pass to leave your hands free to carry drinks and snacks. If you loose the lanyard, please stop by the Will Call table for a new one. However, replacement OUT PASSES cannot be provided!
9. What's the wrist band some people are wearing?
In certain situations a wrist band is given to a special guest (Director, Actor, Judge, etc.). We also use wristbands to mark attendance for certain events.
10. Who do I ask for help?
All of our volunteers will be glad to help. They can be identified by a Green pass hanging on a lanyard or a name tag on their shirt. You will find them at any of the festival tables or assisting with crowd control. You may also ask any Magnolia employee. In all cases if the person doesn't know the answer they will find someone with a radio to get you the answer or assistance you need.
11. Where is Will Call?
The table is located on the 2nd floor in the concession area. As you reach the top of the escalator look to your right against the wall and the concession glass food display cabinet.
12. Where is Lost & Found?
Please go to the Will Call table to claim all lost items.
13. Are the films rated?
The few we have this year with a real MPAA rating are all "R". The rest are not rated ("UNR") but should be considered as an "R". To avoid any potential problems we are asking anyone under 17 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
14. How do you handle the stand-by line for movies?
Due to the growing popularity of our festival and of the Magnolia and their movie selection, more waiting lines will exist this year. Each line will be identified by a sign. Each line will also be manned by a volunteer. Please don't hesitate to ask which line is holding for a specific screening. Because of our seating policy, GA is admitted to the festival screenings at 10 minutes prior to the start time. This is to allow OUT PASS holders the benefit of priority seating. Consequently, you will see people enter the theater prior to the release of GA but they will either be a volunteer or have an OUT PASS.
15. What effect does a Sold Out program have on an OUT PASS holder?
To guarantee your seat the PASS holder must arrive prior to the release of the General Admission (GA) line into the theater - this year it is 15 minutes prior to the show time. Once the GA line is release, PASS holders are only admitted if a seat can be found and there are no more GA ticket holders waiting in line.
16. When can I pick up my OUT PASS?
For sponsors and patrons, your first opportunity is the VIP reception prior to the VIP screening. After the preview screening and for all non-sponsor PASS holders, come to the Will Call table beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, the opening day. In all cases you must present an ID to claim the PASS.
17. How do I know what kind of OUT PASS I have?
PASSES are marked as VIP for sponsors or patrons. Sponsors and Patrons will receive an invitation and information in the mail from the festival Development director with further instructions.

19. Where can I get contact information for a film in your festival?
