We've had some wonderful guests attend the festival: Actors, Directors and Producers. Here are some of their remarks about OUT TAKES Dallas.
- "You guys are putting on an amazing festival. Keep up the good work. James regrets not being able to be there, but balancing stage and screen careers makes for a hectic schedule. Maybe next time; God knows he wishes he could have made it. ... I also wanted to say I was sorry to see that Prop. 2 passed. Hopefully the people of Texas won't always feel this way and the future will bring more enlightened legislation. But what you guys are accomplishing with OUT TAKES will go a long way towards spreading the word that gay people are nothing to be afraid of. ... Once again, thank you for the opportunity to be a part of OUT TAKES Dallas. We look forward to returning with future work." Mark Holmes - 29th and Gay (2005)
- Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality you and everyone at the festival provided. I haven't stopped raving about it! I wish you all the success in the world with the festival and look forward to submitting future projects to the fest. Brian Pelletier - No Match Found (2005)
- "Anyway, just wanted to thank you again for having me down this weekend. I had such a fun time in Dallas (seeing all the local nightlife too!) and it was such a great screening as well. With Jeremy and Robert and really everyone I met there, your festival really outdoes itself when it comes to local hospitality, that's for sure!" Brian Sloan - WTC View (2005)
- "Thanks again for everything! We had a great time at the festival. You guys did a fantastic job." Tommy Stovall - Hate Crime (2005)
- "Thank you so very much for being so great to Gary. He said you all really take good care of your filmmakers. We appreciate it. Lastly thank you all so much for supporting our work." Leslie Belt - Attack of the Bride Monster (2005)
- "Again, we had a great time in Dallas. Hope all’s well." Gary Walker - Attack of the Bride Monster (2005)
- "I wanted you to know how thrilled we are to be so honored by you all. I am not yet sure who all besides me will be attending, but you can bet I will be there. ... Gary and I are going to Chicago today so there will be little lag in our planning, but trust me - the wires will be burning up with this good news. Thanks again." Leslie Belt - Attack of the Bride Monster (after the news they were to receive the Foundation Award) (2005)
- "Nobody does it like they do in Big D." Angel Benton, Actor, "Britney Baby, One More Time"
O.N.E. May 2002, Angelika Film Center - "The people at OUT TAKES were the most gracious and hospitable bunch I have ever met."
- "I can't wait to come back to see all of the new friends I made in Dallas."
- "It's delightful to see such an enthusiastic group dedicated to maintaining the integrity of gay cinema."
- "...this is one of the most professional and organized groups I have ever worked with. ... They are very tapped into their audience. The community loves them. We love them." -Tearlach Hutcheson, Manager, Magnolia Theater, Dallas, TX, 2003
- ... I showed up for volunteer orientation on a lark and ended up working every single hour of the festival - loving every minute of it. I was witness to a sampling of a greater gay community - one whose focus was art and service. I often wonder that had I been left to the devices of my conservative college, if I would have come to appreciate what I saw illustrated in the faces and films of OUT TAKES - that is, a general positive regard for the flourishing of human potential. Now that I've graduated and have moved out of the state, it has been my pleasure to recommend to the gay/questioning youth of my alma mater to volunteer with the festival. I do so with the sincere hope they have even half the rewarding experiences I had. -Jeffrey Gierer, Volunteer, 2000-2002
- Nancylee Myatt, "Wave Babes", 2003 - As we trot across the country with "Wave Babes" we get a close up view of the various gay cinema and entertainment communities -- and Dallas has moved to the top of the list for us and our future projects and participation. Y'all know how to throw a great festival.
- Mark Jones, Writer/Producer, "Eli Parker is Getting Married?", 2003 - I miss Dallas and all the friends I made. I truly had an awesome time. ... It was truly a great experience for me.
- Dewey Moss, "A Normal Life", Nov 2003 - I've arrived back in NY completely exhausted but completely exhilarated! :) You guys were all great, and I can't thank each one of you enough for not only programming my film in the festival, but also making me feel like such a part of your community after having been away for so many years. I know a festival is a ton of work, but after having spent the year before making my film going to as many festivals as I could, I truly believe your festival competes with the best!
- Terry Ray, "GAYDAR", Nov 2003 - I've been to a lot of film festivals this past year (my film GAYDAR has screened in over 65) so I know a really great one isn't to be taken for granted. OUT TAKES Dallas is awesome! At every turn the filmmakers are treated as the stars of the festival--they even brought us to the theatre every day in a limo. But we were also treated as stars in more important ways, such as the genuine enthusiasm they have that we are there to share our films with them. No one could ask for better hosts or better audiences. They have a great venue and a great city. I want to add that while we're having all this fun, OUT TAKES is also raising thousands of dollars for a very worthy institution in Dallas. That's a great film festival. I'm telling all my friends to run to OUT TAKES Dallas and I'm sure hoping I get to go back!
